For twenty-five years Professor Mau has devoted himself to the study of Pompeii, spending his summers among the ruins and his winters in Rome, working up the new material. He holds a unique place among the scholars who have given attention to Pompeian antiquities, and his contributions to the literature of the subject have been numerous in both German and Italian. The present volume, however, is not a translation of one previously issued, but a new work first published in English, the liberality of the publishers having made it possible to secure assistance for the preparation of certain restorations and other drawings which Professor Mau desired to have made as illustrating his interpretation of the ruins.

MAGIC AND RELIGION
In an article on " magic " contributed to Hastings's Encyclopcedia of Religion and Ethics, Dr. Marett says that " the problem of its definition constitutes a veritable storm-centre in the anthropological literature of to-day."

THIS BOOK is not intended as an abstruse scientific work, but the statement of a new theory, and its comparison with the old ones for the instruction of the masses. It is well said, " every age has its predominant thought."

To liberate your soul and move in the direction of your immediate goals. You check your beliefs. Your standards, you can increase the extent of vision created by your imagination as you want. If you can control your thoughts and beliefs, then you took over the reins in your own life.

"SKETCHES BY SEYMOUR" was published in various versions about 1836. The copy used for this Edition has no date and was published by Thomas Fry, London. Some of the 90 plates note only Seymour's name, many are inscribed "Engravings by H. Wallis from sketches by Seymour." The printed book appears to be a compilation of five smaller volumes. From the confused chapter titles the reader may well suspect the printer mixed up the order of the chapters.
The complete book in this paperback edition is split into five smaller Volumes “The individual volumes are of more manageable size than the 90 Chapter” complete version.

If properly outlined and presented, there is probably no subject in the school curriculum that can be made of more service to a growing youth than can biology.
Biological problems confront him at every turn, and if he is a normal being, he will have asked himself question after question which an elementary knowledge of biology ought to help him to answer. Some of these questions may be the following:

THESE two lectures might better perhaps be described as one lecture in two parts, for I am really going to try and give you in the two a connected tracing of the progress of the soul. There is so much confusion in thought as to the origin of the individual, as to what the individual really means, as to how he is developed, and what is to be his ultimate destiny, that I thought I could take no better subject for a Lodge, which ought to be a Lodge of students, than to trace out somewhat in detail this most important matter in the light of Theosophy.

ELIZABETH was about three years old at the death of her mother. She was a princess, but she was left in a very forlorn and desolate condition. She was not, however, entirely abandoned. Her claims to inherit the crown had been set aside, but then she was, as all admitted, the daughter of the king, and she must, of course, be the object of a certain degree of consideration and ceremony. It would be entirely inconsistent with the notions of royal dignity which then prevailed to have her treated like an ordinary child.
